4th stage: Kraljevo / Краљево-Serbia, 31th August -3th September 2008
The 31th of August I took the bus from Belgrade to Kraljevo, where I went to visit Darko, a friend of me. Kraljevo is a city in Central Serbia surrounded by mountains.
I felt really welcome by Darko and his familly: I can't describe the hospitality I felt there , it was too wonderfull! We went to visit Zica monastry, which is an old one, wikipedia writes about it:
Žiča (Serbian Cyrillic: Жича) is a Serb Orthodox monastery near Kraljevo, Serbia, located at
43.696300° N 20.645739° E. The monastery, together with the Church of the Holy Dormition,
was built by the first King of Serbia, Stefan the First-Crowned. It was destroyed by the end of 13th century, but was rebuilt by King Stefan Milutin at the beginning of the 14th century.
Žiča was by tradition royal church of Serbian kings, and although king could be crowned in any Serbian church, he was never considered true king until he was anointed in Žiča.
We went to visit also Goc, a ski-resort and Maglic, a fortress which dominates the Ibar valley. Unfortunately the 3th of September I had to go to Skopje (Macedonia) and it was time to say
goodbye to my new Serbian friends. It will be not the last time I will be in Serbia and meet them, that for sure! At the Macedonian / Serbian border I had some problems, but that
I could manage with a big smile....nema problem :-)
